The Backrooms: Game Boy Edition
Inspired by the popular 4chan "the backrooms" post.
If you're not careful and noclip out of reality in the wrong areas, you'll end up in the Backrooms, where it's nothing but the stink of old moist carpet, the madness of mono-yellow, the endless background noise of fluorescent lights at maximum hum-buzz, and approximately six hundred million square miles of randomly segmented empty rooms to be trapped in.
God save you if you hear something wandering around nearby, because it sure as hell has heard you.
Game Story:
Three [Redacted] research team members have gone missing inside [Redacted].
Your team has been tasked with locating, and if possible, extracting the missing team members back through the [Redacted].

Features:
- Nintendo's Game Boy inspired graphics, sound and screen resolution.
- Random object and enemy spawning make it a fresh experience each play through.
- Noclipping mechanic. (Bumping into walls has a chance of noclipping into level -1.)
- Multiple levels. ( -1, 0, 1, 2, and more!)
- Multiple Entities. ( Smilers, Death Moths, Partygoers, and more!)
Controls:
W,A,D,S = Move
Spacebar = Interact
Holding down 'N' and bumping into walls = Possibility to Noclip
Dev Note:
Please let me know if you find any bugs or have any issues running the game. I tried to catch as many bugs as I could during development, and will continue to polish and release new content for it in the coming months.

This was a pretty cool concept. Some amount of direction is needed though. Walking around the same looking area for 15 minutes to die and do it over again was draining.
Thank you for playing, and yes I totally agree with you. I was just trying to keep it as close to the original story/concept as possible while pulling some game mechanics from other backroom games, but seeing as this is a game I guess I could make it more informative of what to do on each level. Thanks for the feedback.

This is by far the most unique Backrooms game that follows the original lore. I had a ball playing this even though I couldn't complete it!

The visuals and sound design is very on point i love that part but
the game seems to be a little bit too slow paced. Wanted to record a play through for Youtube but after 10 minutes of walking I found no people or monsters. :/ Kinda felt like i was being april fooled but im sure it could just be my bad searching skills.
did you try noclipping into the wall by holding down the N key while bumping into walls?
I did and i also wanted to ask you on that: Whats the chances of noclipping? I straight up banged my head against walls for 5 minutes before i got to clip the first time.
I can’t remember off the top of my head, but it’s probably too high if you have to bang your head. I originally had it happen without the player’s control and now there is a key command for it, and I forgot to up the chances of noclipping.
If you wanna wait a day or so, I’ll have a new update out with the first level shrunk down and up the chances of noclipping. should make searching for the missing researchers easier.

Good to see you're still making games, this was awesome! Have you tried Construct 3 yet? Just picked it up, gonna try and get back into games again. I miss beating my head against the wall for hours ha ha. Hope you and the fam are doing well buddy. <3
